Mr. Gregory P. Urban
Mr. Urban is in his third year at PHUHS, though Mr. Urban has been the marching band drill designer and Associate Director for the past 9 years.
Mr. Urban is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in music education. While at USF, he studied trombone with Tom Brantley and was a member of the symphonic band, wind ensemble, trombone choir, jazz ensemble, and Herd of Thunder Marching Band.
Mr. Urban has taught at Dunedin Highland Middle School, Largo Middle School, Hollins High School, Coleman Middle School, and Northeast High School during his 21-year career.His bands have received numerous superior ratings, awards, and even performed during the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Festival of Bands.
Mr. Urban is an active member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, serving as a district officer and adjudicator of concert, jazz, and solo & ensemble music performance assessments. He has been nominated for and won several FBA awards, as well. He was has been asked to clinic jazz and concert bands from around the state of Florida working in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Palm Beach, Port St. Lucie, Broward, Brevard, Manatee, Lake, and Osceola counties. He is a sought after marching band drill designer for bands throughout the Southeastern United States. In 2022 and 2023, Mr. Urban was a quarter finalist for the Grammy Foundation Music Educator of the Year Award.
